The North

In the North of Portugal there are 5 important wine areas:

1. Vinho Verde: Known for its fresh and youthful wines, this region is located in the Minho province.

2. Douro Valley: Famous for its Port wine production, it features steep terraced vineyards along the Douro River.

3. Dão: Known for robust red wines, this region is situated south of the Douro, in a more mountainous area.

4. Bairrada: Located between the Dão and the Atlantic Ocean, known for its sparkling wines and the Baga grape variety.

5. Beira Interior: This region produces a variety of wines and is located in a relatively mountainous area.
